  • 1929

    Opening of the first Lojas Americanas, in Niteroi-RJ, by the americans John Lee, Glen Matson, James Marshall and Batson Boger. Under the slogan “Nothing beyond two thousand réis”, other 3 stores were opened over the year.

  • 1940

    The Company goes public, with its shares traded on the Brazilian stock market.

  • 1982

    The partners of the Banco Garantia, Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcel Telles e Carlos Alberto Sicupira, take over the Company control.

  • 1999

    Creation of website, starting e-commerce operations. In addition, the year was marked by the centralization of logistics, with the inauguration of the 1st distribution center in Itapevi-SP.

  • 2003

    Inauguration of a new physical store model, the Americanas Express.

  • 2005

    Acquisition of Shoptime TV channel and website operations

  • 2006

    Creation of B2W Digital, the digital platform of Americanas Universe, through the merger of and Submarino.

  • 2007

    Acquisition of BWU, the company that owned the BLOCKBUSTER® brand in Brazil, adding 127 physical stores to the chain.

  • 2009

    The Company celebrated its 80th anniversary launching the “Sempre Mais Brasil” program with the bold goal of opening 400 stores by 2013, doubling both the number of stores and the number of cities present.

  • 2011

    Launch of the SouBarato website, the outlet of

    Launch of the Marketplace operations, at first at website.

  • 2014

    Acquisition of the carrier Direct Express, specialized in e-commerce deliveries.

  • 2015

    Start of the second expansion plan: “85 Years in 5 – Somos Mais Brasil”, with the objective to open 800 new stores by 2019.

  • 2016

    Launch of the convenience model with the opening of the 1st store in Rio de Janeiro. Subsequently, the store format gained its own brand: Local.

  • 2017

    B2W concludes an investment cycle that totaled the acquisition of more than 10 technology and logistics companies, building the most complete e-commerce platform in Brazil. In 2017, a strategic plan for the transition of the business model begins, with a focus on marketplace growth and cash generation.

  • 2018

    In 2018, IF – Inovação e Futuro was created, aiming at building disruptive businesses and leveraging several initiatives in the Americanas Universe, and LET’S, a shared management platform of logistics and distribution assets for LASA and B2W. In the same year, Ame Digital was launched.

    Completion of investment plans for the physical and digital platforms and announcement of a new growth cycle during Investor Day.19.
